Edited 1/24 6:10 am: I originally stated that Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh is Friday night. That game is on Thursday. Which means I have no idea whom the announcers will be. The Louisville/ Boston College battle is Friday night, which, given the networks normal MO, Andre Ware will be misannouncing the U of L game. Which is bad. But does allow non-vaccinated viewers an extra day to protect themselves.

Is this where I sigh, go “ho hum” yet again, then advise that Jimmy the Greek has agreed to join my personal mentor Joey the Vig to introduce me when I’m inducted into the Prognosticators Hall of Fame?
Guess so.
I’ll provide the link where it shall be streaming when advised by that august body.
Thus, here we go, ho hum.
5-1 for last weekend.
Duke beat hapless Florida State. Woe is unto the Seminoles. Colorado beat somebody, and is actually improving, as loathe as I am to admit it. Billy Napier continues his escape from the Dead Man Walking list. The Gators beat, you know already, that team up the road. The Indiana Cignetti’s continued their unblemished dream season with a downright massacre of the Cornhuskers. They did lose their QB for a few weeks though. A thumb thing.
Miami bested the Cardinals, which I infamously predicted, much to the chagrin and ire of some loyal readers. They wish for me to claim responsibility. Which I shall not do, given that I wasn’t in the coaching booth, nor on the sideline with a headset, nor in pads trying to block and tackle.
Georgia did what Georgia has smartly done in recent times. They underwhelm early on. We begin to question them. Then they dominate the alleged #1 contingent, on the latter’s home turf. That’s my miss.
I have not gotten more wrong than right any week the entire campaign. Only in Week I, when we really didn’t know much, did I mistake more than two. And that’s happened only thrice, meaning one L weekends, to tag along with a couple perfectos.
Excuse me for a second, I need to get treatment for my arm which I just wrenched out of joint patting myself on the back.
39-12 for the year.
This week’s winners:
Syracuse @ Pittsburgh. The Panthers haven’t fallen in six attempts. Though it hasn’t really been a gauntlet they’ve had to negotiate. That one point W over rising Cincy is looking better by the week. Their escape at home last time out to the Golden Bears, not so much. 5-1 Syracuse, under a new regime, is also upticking. Panthers.
Texas @ Vanderbilt. Yes, the Longhorns are heavy favorites. Give me grief if you must for addressing the outcome of this battle in NashVegas. But, understand, Alabama was more heavy a fave when they visited Dudley Field. Crossbars in the Cumberland and all that. Besides, I am enamored, not alone mind you, with Diego Pavia. He reminds me so much of Billy Kilmer. He’s a gamer. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out just how, but it happens, he makes the play, prevails. The Horns are reeling somewhat, having been blindsided by the Bulldogs. Wilkommen to the SEC, dudes. Are we in store for another shocker on West End Avenue? Nah, cue Satchmo and the Hot Five.
Washington @ Indiana. Game Day in Bloomington. Which means that Lee Corso returns to where he went when Louisville wasn’t big time enough time for him. (The Cards did play at the time on a baseball field with stands only on one side and one end.) But we love him, though it is past time for him to retire. Washington is solid if also up and down, having lost their coach to Tuscaloosa. Despite a backup signal caller, in Cignetti I believe. Crimson & Cream continue a dream of a season.
Auburn @ Kentucky. Hugh Freeze has been it is fair to say some kind of miracle worker up to now. 89-49 at the FBS level coming into the season. So, in a conference that cares more, Auburn looked past HF’s sketchy peccadilloes and hired him. 6-7 last year was acceptable. 2-5 this season, 0fer the league, and the fatcats are drawing up buyout checks. Kentucky meanwhile has been the paradigm of mediocrity. I can’t figure ’em out. Then again I haven’t tuned into their games much. But this one’s at home. Cats go Krogering.
Louisville @ Boston College. Watching this one on the telly will most likely mean having to endure Andre Ware. There’s a vaccine you know, talk to your pharmacist. It’s covered by Medicare and all the major insurance providers. Cards get back on track.
