U of L CardFile: Clemson

This shall be short, not so sweet.

No inclination here to go into detail.

Not going to sleep on it. Knock it out and move on to hoops.

Clemson 20, Louisville 19.

I can sense part of the narrative, given the buzz heading into this one about U of L’s QB situation. Which would be to place the L on Miller Moss’s shoulders.

Especially for the late sack, eliminating the possibility for a reasonable, makable FG.

My opinion: I don’t blame Moss.

That one play was the fault of the Offensive Line. Clemson’s defenders were all over Moss in less than two seconds. He didn’t have enough time to throw it away.

The second misdiagnosed villain will, of course, be Cooper Ranvier.

He doinked an extra point.

He missed a long FG attempt.

It happens.

He’s been steady. He’s been reliable. He gets no blame here.

Which allows a seamless segue to where I am placing the blame.

Jeff Brohm.

You give your kicker a shot to redeem himself late. You show him you have confidence.

Instead, Brohm panicked, put in a kicker with limited attempts all year. Cold. Late in a Must Make moment. Huge mistake of judgement.

Hated the decision.

Louisville’s lack of discipline was mind-boggling.

False starts. Stupid unsportsmanlike absurdities. At critical moments.

10 penalties for 98 critical yards.

I blame coaching for that.

My readers might think otherwise. Have at it.

You want to know who foresaw such a meltdown.

Go back to the 3d C BC.

Plautus.

He was a playwright who penned “The Menaechmi.”

It was a play about mistaken identity.

A comedy of errors if you will.

Which is what Willie the Shakes dubbed his take on the plotline, which premiered in 1594.

A Comedy of Errors, this one.

Mistaken identity?

Jeff Brohm’s 2025 U of L Cardinals, who feigned being a legit CFP contender.

Until their real identity was outed.

  1. Shall I say it again? I tried telling people (delusional U of L fans) that Brohm was not the coach they thought he was. Am I a genius? A savant? Nope. I just paid attention to his WHOLE career at Purdue. Not just the big upsets. It was the same thing there. Terrible losses. Every season. A few fans posting that they hoped he would leave. How does an offensive specialist go 6 seasons at Purdue and not even crack the a top 50 ranking in total offense? I don’t care if it’s Purdue and they are in the Big 10. They don’t play OSU and Michigan alternating every other week. You can’t annoint someone a power conference offensive genius unless they actually PROVE IT. Fantasy doesn’t fly in real life football. Brohm’s real life big time limitations are smacking us in the face. Even me. I knew he wasn’t this genius many U of L fans thought he was, but he is even worse than I thought. I just hope we don’t lay and egg against uk, but at this point it’s definitely possible.

    1. More than possible. Their defense didn’t allow Texas to run and now they discovered that you bench a non-productive QB and put in a freshman your offense can be productive

  2. Good take Seedy. I’ll add another to your list. A fumble to give them their first TD. This team should be 10-0 if they could get out of their own way

    1. After yesterday‘s performance Louisville doesn’t have to worry that any power for schools will be anxious to hire jeff Brohm

  3. The 4th qtr was bizzare. One almost gets the feeling there were sinister forces working behind the curtain or under the table.
And pulling “Renoir” in the context of what was going on was plus de mal. A total coaching meltdown. Being a Louisville Brohm is not a license to serve up a plate of cold mediocrity because you ….(fill in your own blank).
