That’s the cliché, right?
Applies here.
Louisville 74, North Carolina 77.
Just thinkin’ out loud.
You gotta play with energy and passion and a hint of fire The Whole Game, not just the last little bit to make it look closer than it really was.
At the 16:27 mark of the 2d, the Tar Heels drained a triple, which extended their one point halftime advantage to 9 at 49-40.
The Cardinals answered — actually didn’t — with a hurried airball from beyond the arc.
At which point, I wrote these words in my game notes: “GAME OVER!”.
Carolina netted seven more in a row for a 56-40 margin.
(Louisville wouldn’t have been that close — such as it was — but for a couple of triple triple bursts in the opening half. A Conwell>Brown>Wooley parlay. And a Rooths>Brown>Hadley skein.)
So the Cardinals fell behind by 16 before scoring its First Field Goal of the Second six minutes and twenty four seconds after it started.
That commenced a 9-0 spurt to pull within 7.
Twas a false positive.
The Cardinals, playing, I don’t really know how to describe it — Passionless??? — somehow stayed within a reasonable distance.
Zougris balled with some zest. Hadley is ever steady. Rooths and Wooley brought a smidge of Snickers™ off the bench. Conwell tallied in bunches. Brown was periodically ***** like.
But it was never gonna happen.
Even though the Cards had a prayer with :08 left to send it to extras.
Cards fans need to face it. U of L is a somewhat better than average outfit. That’s about it.
With serious flaws which are really manifesting themselves against stiffer competition. I’ve mentioned them ad nauseam and feel no need to reiterate again.
Just hoping the season doesn’t end with a whimper.

In the immortal words of Don Martin, “Bleechh!”
Waiting for the fat lady to warble
I felt the same way at the same time—game over. Did like the 1-3-1 defense sprinkled in to lead to the some of the comeback but so what. If McNeely isn’t going to score, he needs to sit and let someone who can muscle up play more. And Khalifa is almost worthless— no defense and no offense where we need it most. Very disappointing.
they lined up in the 1-3-1 but didn’t know how to play it after UNC made their 1st pass.
I guess the most puzzling thing to me is a theme I’ve kept harping on – how in the world do our Net ratings & other analytics continue to over rank us with not apparently factoring in the added considerations of “heart” – “poor coaching non-adjustments” and “horrendous road play to middling & better than average teams”? Just wondering for all of us – and how in the world were Cards a 3.5 fave on the road ? I guess the consolation is we could have Kelvin Sampson coaching us with his bricklaying Houston team shooting 31 % from field & 21% from 3 – as they completed a trifecta of Big 12 matchups 0-3 against Iowa State – Arizona & Kansas – Unreal how he squanders talent –
NC points in the paint, I don’t know, 20 or more? Yum, soft serve in the middle! There “ain’t” no middle on offense or defense..I prefer my soft serve in a waffle cone.
Well need interior play, and post game truth Brown got fouled on the last drive, and again on paper looks like we won , but imo also too many rushed shots. Gotta get post players in portal, somewhere . Next year will be rough, enjoy this year.
We have very little to no inside games. Fru picks up early fouls and sits most of the first half. Aly makes beautiful passes but cannot rebound, score, or play defense around the basket. Youngas has great effort, but does not have sufficient skills. Shots don’t seem to fall on the road as easily as thy do at the YUM. It is what it is is for this season.

Seedy just think. If you have accepted this very wise and astute observation I put forth after the Kansas exhibition game, you could have skipped the whole season. Think of how much time you would have saved. Think if how much more live music you could have listened to. 😉
