Even though I have not seen a statement from Flory Bidunga himself, or his agent, the reports are so many that he is withdrawing from the NBA Draft, such that I feel more comfortable this May morning that he’ll suit up for the Cardinals come autumn.
Earlier reports that he “signed” with the Cardinals were too sketchy for this former prosecutor. I have remained skeptical.
Even though the current reportage is also hearsay, it has the appearance of validity. Ah, how one’s standards slip in retirement.

Why a pipe dream Milan Milanović will end up here if he drops out of the draft? All the reports I have seen say it’s us or St. John’s, with us being the slight favorite. Supposedly even though uk wants him they aren’t a legitimate contender. So I’ve read, anyway.

Your lawyering experience aside, I will invoke my decades of business experience and declare that if we didn’t have the money to pay then we wouldn’t be, not only in the conversation, but, listed as one of two favorites. That doesn’t happen if you don’t have the finances. Nobody wastes their time with that. Rest assured his agent wouldn’t be talking with U of L at all if we didn’t have certified funds. It wouldn’t make any sense to.
Any time a player is seriously linked to a school rest assured they have the money to pay. That doesn’t mean we’ll get him, but there is no doubt we have enough to be considered a front runner, because we are.

We definitely have the money. We wouldn’t be in the conversation if we didn’t. Point. Blank. Period.
The question is how much money are we WILLING to spend on him. uk is kind of desperate right now. They could well pay, not more than we can, but more than we are willing to. uk may well overpay for him just because of how desperate they are and how losing another player to us will spoil their season before it’s even June.
He is NOT worth $7 million as some reports indicate. Nor $6 Mill, nor $5mill frankly. Would love to have him but hope some prudence prevails for our Cardinals.
